Shut the Front Door! A Barn Door Kit That’s Easy to Assemble and Looks Great

We did a soft-remodel on the ensuite bathroom at our riverhouse — new vanity, new backsplash, new paint, etc. Didn’t want to break the bank and this was a DIY job. Our previous bathroom door opened up into the bathroom, making a small bathroom feel and function even smaller. Pulling off the old door and installing a sliding barn door was just the ticket to give us some more usable space and help the look and feel of our bathroom.

I ordered this COSHOMER barn door and hardware kit directly from Amazon for under $250. If you have ever shopped for interior doors for a home, I was pretty pleased with the price, especially based on the great reviews for this product (4.5 stars on nearly 650 reviews).

The product came in a smaller box than I expected, but it was very heavy, so make sure you have a helper to keep from damaging anything. Product is well packed and instructions were very clear and generally easy to follow. I assembled the door on my own using basic tools in about 40 minutes. It would have been faster with a helper, but my Questionable Kids were MIA.

For the mounting and sliding door hardware, the instructions are also very clear, but you need to follow every step to ensure quality fit and long-lasting operation. Again this is best as a two-person job, but I was able to mount and hang the door on my own. A helper likely would have prevented me from mis-measuring the distance from the floor to the hanging roller on my first attempt.

Once I corrected the mount, the door hung beautifully and opens and closes with ease. It's a quality addition to the space and Mrs. Questionable now has a constant reminder of why she married me.
